This book is aimed principally at the new home users, with a special target being families buying their first PC and/or getting on the Internet for the first time.
The book is twice the size of existing Made Simples, and is in full colour throughout.
The book will bring together material (updated and revised) from several existing Made Simples, mainly The Internet (for Windows 95 and Windows 98) and Searching the Internet, but with some new material on safe Internet surfing and on sites of special interest for the family audience.
The book will cover basic concepts: how to get onto the Internet; browsing the Web; finding and downloading files; e-mail; newsgroups; searching for sites and for other resources; safe surfing; creating home pages with HTML.
The Internet Made Simple full colour edition, packed with new information, with every screen shot in full colour, will give new users of the Internet everything they need in order to get on-line and be a part of the Internet computing experience.
Biografía del autor
Mac's first steps into computing came 19 years ago when he taught himself Basic on a ZX81. He started his first book shortly afterwards, when he realised that (a) programming was fun, and (b) no-one was writing simple books on it. Since then he has programmed in, taught and/or written about 9 varieties of Basic, 3 Pascals, 2 Cs, Assembler, Cobol and Java, 5 spreadsheets, 3 databases, 4 word-processors, and 6 operating systems. He is looking forward to the time when developers stop producing new software and books don't go out of date in a couple of years. Mac can usually be found either in the kitchen or running a taxi service for his family. He lives in Southampton with 4 children, 2 cats and 40 fishes.
