Sinopsis

A picture is worth a thousand words, especially in communities where few can read, and the pictures which hang outside the inns and pubs of England have cheered travellers and locals alike for hundreds of years. It is not surprising that some of the oldest, and a few of the oddest, are to be found in London, and that they reflect the variety of people who have lived and worked here, found fame and fortune or notoriety, stirred the spirit or simply supplied a service to the public for generations. This book illustrates many unusual and interesting signs and explains their origins. About the author Dominic Rotheroe has lived in or near London most of his life and finds the abundance of London inns as refreshing as did any medieval traveller. He is a freelance film maker and photographer.. NOTA: El libro no está en español, sino en inglés.
