For paralegal students, Yelin (Loyola U., Chicago) and Samborn explain legal research and writing. They first outline the legal system, followed by computerized and internet research, reports, digests, validating, secondary authority, administrative material, research strategy, practice and ethical rules, writing and editing fundamentals, basic legal writing, memoranda and letters, case briefs, legal memorandum, statements, and the synthesis of cases using the IRAC method. The appendices discuss Shepardizing and cite checking, citation, and includes sample memoranda. The new edition contains new exercises and sources for electronic research and has been updated for the ALWD Citation Manual and the Bluebook. There is no bibliography. Most of the topics are similar to those in Legal Research and Writing for Paralegals, 4th ed., but this volume includes questions about the chapters, key terms, and chapter summaries, and is presented in a more basic format.
