About the Author:

Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.

From Publishers Weekly:

Selected pictures of Potter's works has been packaged here to suit the ABC format. Beneath the illustrations are paraphrases and quotes about items pictured. "C is for carrot" shows art from The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit, and "This is a nice gentle Rabbit. His mother has given him a carrot." At the end of the alphabetwherein reside the difficult letters with which all ABC creators contendquotes are abandoned completely. With a picture from The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle is a mild "w is for washing;" the phrase "x is in fox" only lamely explains the picture from The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, of the title character walking with a fox. The book lacks integrity as an alphabet book and works better as a sampler of the treats available in the original books. Ages 1-5.
