An introductory guide to Ayurveda – the powerful Indian system which harmonises the three Doshas – the three energy types which balance our diet, lifestyle and general health.
Ayurveda is an all encompassing system of Indian preventative medicine and healing.
Ayurvedic medicine cultivates Ojas – what we might term well-being, inner contentment, or plain good health. Ojas shows when we are radiant with health and relaxed happiness.
Ayurveda is based on the ancient wisdom of the Vedas and is practiced today by doctors throughout India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It is a thorough, comprehensive healthcare system and offers practical advice for all aspects of life from childhood through to old-age.
Today, Ayurveda is increasingly recognised as an incredible body of simple, yet profound medical knowledge.
Principles of Ayurveda discusses:
the three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
• the uniqueness of the personal constitution
• recreating balance – working with a practitioner
• recreating balance – working on yourself
• how to find a qualified and reputable practitioner

Ayurveda is a powerful ancient healing system that offers a holistic vision of health involving balance in and between body, mind and spirit. One of its most fundamental ideas is that it each individual's constitution is unique and has a particular relationship to three fundamental and vital energies, the Doshas. Ayurveda looks at the way in which those energy types relate to diet, lifestyle and general health. Balancing the Doshas and body, mind and soul will help you live a long, healthy and contented life. This introductory guide to Ayurveda explores:
•
the history of Ayurveda and the philosophies on which it is based
•
the three Doshas and their relationship to individual constitution
•
the body's subtle workings and how imbalances arise
•
how we can recreate balance – by working with a practitioner or by ourselves
