Sinopsis
This powerful short novel was one of the two works of fiction that won Inoue the prestigious Akutagawa Prize. Set in the period after the Second World War, it relates the doomed love affair of Josuke, owner of the hunting gun, which is a symbol of his lonely, detached existence. Inoue describes the psychological impact of an illicit love affair that Josuke has, and the shattering impact it has for all around him.

Acerca del autor
YASUSHI INOUE was born in 1907 and is one of Japan's leading writers. He has worked as a reporter and art critic as well as writing novels. His first books, THE HUNTING GUN and The Bull Fight, won him the Akutagawa Prize. His Tales of the Tempyo (1957) was awarded the Ministry of Education Prize for Literature in Japan, and for Tunhuang (1959) he received the Mainichi Press Prize. He is the author of several books of historical fiction set in China, as well as a serious study of Chinese history. His books have been translated into several European languages.
