Every aspect of the mental and physical welfare of the dog is included in this valuable quick-reference book - the ideal handy guide for everyone who owns a dog or is involved with dog care. Entries on the dog's anatomy and physiology give a detailed picture of how the dog works. There is much information on diet, training, grooming and exercise, avoiding illness and injury, and what to do if ailments or accidents do occur. Directions are given for observing symptoms and treating minor conditions, with information on nursing and first aid, on deciding when to call a veterinarian, and on carrying out the treatment described. Breeding from your dog and the care of puppies and aged dogs are also discussed. Normal health data, a whelping calendar, nutritional guides, a first-aid summary and useful addresses are also included.
