Hardcover. First edition (& 1st printing). SF novel, one of seven the author wrote for Robert Hale. Robert Hale produced books primarily for the library market (still flourishing in the 1970s) and so most titles are very uncommon. This is the only edition of this title, and rare. ''UK author exclusively associated with Robert Hale Limited, but whose novels, beginning with The Nairn Syndrome (1975), in which a new Drug causes mass disappearances, rise intermittently above their element. A recurring theme is Time Travel, as in Time Search (1976), which features a return to the World War Two era. The Last Days of the Peacemaker (1976) offers a vision of the destruction of London. Robert Hale was a UK publishing firm which from 1936 - 1984, though mainly in the 1970s, published more than 450 sf novels, in hardbound editions, primarily for the library market. A large majority of titles originating with the firm were uniform in length (192 pages) and routine in substance, most being Space Operas varied with occasional Dystopias, though other forms of sf also featured'' (John Clute& David Langford/Encyclopedia of SF, 3rd Edition).
