With the new constitutional order the orthodox and traditional rules of statutory interpretation have changed forever. There is a new lexicon: plain language drafting and constitutional values; international law and ubuntu; international human rights law and the constitutional state. As a result of certain provisions in the supreme Constitution, interpretation of statutes is now inextricably linked to disciplines such as constitutional law, administrative law, international law and fundamental rights.
