Sinopsis

Multiple sclerosis has rapidly changed over the last decade into a condition necessitating a multi-disciplinary approach to both its management and understanding. This book reflects all these advances, including contributions from genetics, immunology and molecular biology. The many new drugs, both approved or in advanced stages of clinical trials, which give cause for optimism for the treatment of the disease, are described. This new comprehensive work has both editors and contributors that bring together basic science researchers and clinicians from Europe and the USA.

Críticas

Written by a panel of international experts, this book has brought together the most recent advances in MS research in one volume. All chapters are organized with initial key words, introduction, many informative subheadings, concluding remarks and a large number of tables, schemes, and generally excellent figures. All are clearly written in a comprehensive stile, with extensive reference. The book provides excellent informations about the clinical, epidemiological, diagnostic, pathogenetic, immunological, and neuropathological essentials of MS and related disorders and up-to-date as well as critical informations about current and future treatment and rehabilitation options, their monitoring and outcome measures. It hopefully will remain a major source of knowledge and promote further research in MS. K.A. Jellinger, The European Journal of Neurology, November 2008
