This book is a unified visual-literary interpretative commentary on sections of the Hebrew Bible which include the Books of Joshua and Judges, and significant portions of Samuel 1 and 2. By utilizing a synthesis of linguistic-artistic midrash this book uniquely interprets all the colorful, usually powerful, and always complex leaders of ancient Israel during this epoch including Joshua, Othniel, Ehud, Shamgar, Deborah, Gideon, Abimelech, Tola, Yair, Jephtha, Ibzan, Elon, Abdon, Samson, Eli and Samuel. Fragments of their original biblical stories are preserved while new stories are simultaneously created, which provide novel understandings of the Bible and insights into the genesis of Judaic and biblical thought. In addition Kabbalistic and/or mystical visual symbolism is incorporated.
