Sinopsis

In this short story beloved feline Milo vanishes out a window. His disappearance is devastating and searching for him preoccupies that summer. Hoping for his return through an unexpected miracle, the author describes the anguish of a soul-mate pet gone missing. Milo is the only remaining cat of the many she's had, and a special trip is planned for Milo to celebrate their bond. But when Milo disappears, besides the heartache, even the daily functioning of life goes awry. The author struggles with Milo’s significance to her and how she should handle this loss. Milo’s disappearance symbolically mirrors deprivation and shortcomings in the lives of other people the author encounters during her search. Milo needs to be found, and lives need resolution when setbacks occur. Besides finding Milo, the story explores love, loss and coping.

Reseña del editor

Author Sharon Waters tells her story about the love of animals, life in an RV, and a trip that becomes a journey of the heart. Animals have always been a primary source of companionship and comfort for the author. The loss of any one of them has had a significant impact on her and every effort and resource, physical and mental, is called up to resolve the loss of an animal friend. Milo becomes increasingly significant as the number of pets is reduced when the author moves into an RV. Milo is the only remaining cat of the many she's had, and a special trip is planned for Milo to celebrate their bond. But then Milo goes missing. More than just the heartache, even the daily functioning of life goes awry. The author struggles with the significance of Milo to her, and how she should handle this loss. Besides the resolution to the story for Milo, the reader will find an exploration of loss and coping strategies.
