<b>Senator Paul Wellstone</b> grew up in Arlington, Virginia, and attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was a professor of political science at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, for twenty-one years before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 1990. He and his wife, Sheila Ison, have three children and six grandchildren.<br>
