Kidman developed an affinity for Italian food, wine, and culture during his apprenticeship in some of Sydneys most iconic kitchens. He reinterpreted Italian food to wide acclaim as head chef of Otto Ristorante in Sydney and now combines art with his love of food as executive chef at the National Gallery of Australia and his informal Italian restaurant Dieci e Mezzo.

Renaissance Table is lavishly illustrated with photographs by Sharyn Cairns and includes over 100 recipes for all occasions, from appetizers to deserts. It includes an introduction on Italian food, art, and history by curator Christine Dixon as well as a section that includes Italian cooking essentials, a helpful glossary, and a conversion chart.
