This book, based on a meeting held jointly with the British Ecological Society and the Association of Applied Biologists, describes the relationship between plants, their communities and the pathogens and pests with which they interact, and contains contributions from the specialists in the fields of plant pathology and ecology. Pests and pathogens play an important role in shaping the plant community, yet man seeks to control these factors for agricultural purposes. An understanding of the complex system which comprises these factors is therefore important.
