This Reader recounts the story of the emergence and impact of postmodern thought in human geography. The editors have brought together in a single volume the pivotal writings of the period since 1965. Through these, and their connecting narratives, the editors engage what has been the most invigorating intellectual roller-coaster ride in geography's recent history.

This Reader recounts the story of the emergence and impact of postmodern thought in human geography. The editors have brought together in a single volume the pivotal writings of the period since 1965. Through these, and their connecting narratives, the editors engage with what has been the most invigorating intellectual roller-coaster ride in geography's recent history.
Part one of the volume traces the shift in human geography from a plethora of pre-postmodern paradigms to the emergence of a postmodern consciousness. Part two outlines an agenda for a postmodern human geographical theory and practice that sympathetically intersects with feminism, postcolonialism, cultural studies, and environmentalism.
This critical account of the spaces of postmodernity will be required reading for anyone interested in the production of place, and the state of contemporary social theory.
