As the author I realized I had a flawed understanding of humility. The truly humble people in the world are not weak or doormats. Instead, those who practice the spiritual disciplines of humility are masterful in their dealings with people and maintain great relationships. The purpose of this book is to help people see that the natural result of practicing humility is to attract grace from God and others and the better relationships that ensue make their lives happier and changes the world. This book is a treatise for how to better love yourself, God and others.

Clay’s career began at age seven on his grandfather’s farm raising chickens and learning the meaning of a long row to hoe. Two turning points in Clay’s life was trying out for quarterback and attending the University of Alabama. The first gave him the confidence that he could be a leader and the other plucked him from the safety of his home town. In the years following Clay worked as a farmer, furniture assembler, lifeguard, paper boy, waiter, cookie salesman, oil field roustabout, teacher, and talk show host. More recently he worked in entrepreneurial ventures in insurance, real estate and coaching.
