Jabber is a set of protocols expressed in XML, and an extensible framework that allows people and applications to exchange all sorts of information, from simple text messages to being used to extend the backbone of an enterprise data system. DJ Adams is the author of sjabber, the Jabber::Connection Perl library, and the Jabber::RPC modules, and also works on the Jabberpy Python library. DJ also writes the "Fun with Jabber" series of online tutorials, and for O'Reilly's OpenP2P site.
