It is a terrible irony that notwithstanding what can be described as the miraculous achievements of the Catholic Church in Igbo land especially in numbers and structures, Igbo Catholicism as a project has remained largely stalled both in theological reflection and other critical activities associated with it. Igbo Catholicism perhaps ranks dead last among its peers in indigenous theological activities. With regard to theological reflection, the Church in Igbo land looks like a dormant volcano. The potential for eruption is there for everybody to see. Yet she does not seem to be able to release the first surge of the molten lava.

Biografía del autor

David Asonye Ihenacho, Ph.D., is a native of Ubahi, Amumara, Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. He is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, Mbaise. He had his education at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Ikot Ephene and Enugu Campuses; Fordham University, Bronx, New York, and Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. He specializes in New Testament Studies. His other books include: Justice of the Jungle (2003); The Community of Eternal Life (2001); The Great Ahiara Miracle (1993); The Greatness of a Youth (1988). He is an internationally recognized columnist of the Nigeriaworld.com and the current Director of the Department of Campus Ministry, Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, New York, USA. He also teaches World Religions as an adjunct professor of Religious Studies in some universities in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut areas of the USA.
