Hardcover. Condición: Fair. The Look is Michelle Obama's own account of her style evolution, told in her words for the first time and illustrated with more than 200 photographs, including images that have never before been published. The book follows Obama from her earliest appearances during Barack Obama's U.S. Senate campaign through her years as the first Black First Lady of the United States and into her life after the White House - charting how her approach to dress, beauty, and self-presentation has shifted and deepened across each chapter of her public life. Fashion in The Look is not treated as surface or ornament. Obama writes candidly about wielding clothing and beauty as intentional tools - ways of drawing attention to a message, affirming a set of values, and projecting confidence on her own terms. The book moves through the colorful sheath dresses and brooches of the First Lady years, the bold suits and braids of the post-White House period, and the full range of looks in between, each one unpacked with the context that shaped it. The Look also brings readers behind the scenes through contributions from Obama's longtime collaborators: stylist Meredith Koop, makeup artist Carl Ray, hairstylists Yene Damtew, Johnny Wright, and Njeri Radway, and several of the designers who dressed her for landmark moments. Published by Random House in 2025, this 304-page volume will appeal to readers with an interest in fashion, photography, American history, and the intersection of personal style with public life.
