Na'ima B Robert is descended from Scottish Highlanders on her father's side and the Zulu people on her mother's side. Born in Leeds, she grew up in Zimbabwe and gained a 1st-class degree from the University of London. She has worked in marketing, the performing arts, teaching and travel and has written one other book for children, Journey Through Islamic Art, which was given a WOW Award at the National Literacy Association. She lives in South London with her husband and two small sons.
