Sinopsis
This second edition of Materials in Construction describes the concepts needed to permit the assessment and intelligent use of materials in construction projects by more advanced undergraduate students. This text aims to provide a thorough understanding of all the major materials used in construction, covering their structure, properties and performance. The author takes a unified approach to materials giving full explanations of the interrelationships between properties and performance in use. This enables students to gain a thorough insight into the principles, behaviour and limitations of materials. Increased attention has been given to maintenance and conservation of existing structures, reflecting the substantial proportion of work in the construction industry that now relates to existing stock.
This text is aimed at second and third year undergraduates studying for managerial positions in the construction and related industries.

Acerca del autor
GD Taylor is Principal Lecturer in Construction Materials in the Built Environment Division of the School of the Environment, University of Brighton. He has undertaken extensive research into movement in concrete and time-dependant movement in timber. He is also author of Materials in Construction: An Introduction, 3rd Edition.
