Common sense has become rather desperately needed in regard to the Method which may simply be defined as a codified formalization of the technique of acting. The author is trying to make the point that there is an historical or chronological correspondence between the realistic school of dramaturgy and the Method, the Method relates to every kind of acting - good acting - and not narrowly to realistic acting as such.
