Dr. Kenneth Forman started his career in education as a middle school science teacher for the NYC public schools. He has served as middle school assistant principal, federal programs coordinator, director of state and federal programs, director of curriculum and instruction, executive assistant to the superintendent, assistant superintendent, and principal while working in the NYC public schools for 27 years. Additionally, he has served as elementary school principal in the Lawrence Public Schools for the last 12 years. He is currently a lecturer at Stony Brook University, Educational Leadership Program and consultant for Pearson Evaluation Systems.

 

Dr. Forman is a graduate of Queens College, Brooklyn College, and received his doctorate from New York University in Educational Administration.

 

Dr. Forman is also a consultant for the Division of Accountability and Achievement Resources, where he works with colleagues to review schools across New York City.

Mr. Jeffrey Soloff earned his certificate in educational administration, masters in education, and bachelors’ degree from Brooklyn College. His professional interests include developing a cadre of future school leaders and performing Quality Reviews in New York City public schools. Jeffrey has been an adjunct professor of educational leadership at Stony Brook University in New York since 2001. He teaches courses in leadership theory, leadership practice, building administration, and supervises administrative interns.

 

His career began in 1971 as an elementary school teacher. He assumed a variety of administrative positions at the building and district levels during the next eight years. Jeffrey spent nineteen years as an elementary school principal in New York City and in the Plainedge School District in North Massapequa, New York.

 

Jeffrey’s twenty-seven years of administrative experience in public schools have given him a vast amount of knowledge and expertise that he has incorporated into this book.

Preparing for Educational Leadership is a guide for educational leadership students in preparing for State licensure examinations.  This book provides actual cases and problems that building and central office administrators face in everyday life.  Each case includes a solution to the problem and a rationale to assist the future leader in understanding how to deal with the situation.
