Reseña del editor

It is most encouraging to find that in recent years greater attention is being given to the building of small houses than ever before. The rapid development of suburban tracts of land in almost every part of the country has created a widespread demand for good houses of intelligent design, planned with an idea of comfort and convenience as well as artistic merit. In designing the houses which are illustrated and described, I have kept these points well in mind, also that most important factor expense. In the very short space of ten years we have successfully emerged from the influences of the Early Victorian Era, a period of abortions both in the building and decorating of houses. We can now look back on this period with a keen sense of disgust and fully realize that we are on the threshold of great achievement in the matter of house building.
