1935. Second Edition. 126 pages. No dust jacket. Brown cloth boards with lettering. Clean pages with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil and pen markings to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is darkened. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

Originally published in 1926, and first published as this second edition in 1935, this volume was created with the intention of bringing some of the most interesting passages in Anglo-Saxon prose and poetry within the range of the beginner. The volume is chiefly comprised of passages from The Chronicle and Beowulf. These passages are presented in normalised text to increase accessibility, and are accompanied by copious notes and a simple glossary. This is a concise and highly readable book that will be of value to anyone with an interest in Old English language and literature.
