One of the most influential mathematicians of his era, Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann (1826 - 66) made profound contributions to several areas of mathematics, including analysis, number theory, and differential geometry. His work in the field of differential geometry established the mathematics of general relativity.

The collection presents both the 1892 edition of the works, edited by R. Dedekind and H. Weber, and the 1902 supplement, edited by M. Noether and W. Wirtinger. The selections feature Riemann's epoch-making papers on Abelian functions, representation of a function by trigonometrical series, non-Euclidean geometry, the study of space, conformal mapping, number theory, topology, and other mathematical topics.
