Sinopsis

Excerpt from A History of Ritualism

Catholic Church. Certain local privileges were indeed claimed by the Sovereigns of England, but every member of the Church was in communion with the Pope and acknowledged the Pope as his chief pastor. The fact is one so patent that it lies outside the region of argument or disproof. If an English man had repudiated the Pope, and declared that he held no communion with him, he would have been put to death as a heretic. Until the Sixteenth century England was a Roman Catholic country.
