Desp1?és de la batalla que se denominó a Del Sauce ocurrida sobre la margen del arroyo de este nombre, a poca distancia de la Capital, entre el ejército del Gobierno a las órdenes del general Gregorio Suárez y el que coman daba ol jefe revolucionario general Timo_teo Aparicio, combate que no fué decisivo, porque quedaron aniquilados los ejércitos beligeran tes; las fuerzas revolucionarias se retiraron del campo de batalla lentamente, con todo su par que y bagajes, aunque con algunos cañones de menos, perdidos a causa de haberlos empla zado demasiado cerca de la linea de batalla y dominar la posición los fuegos de la infantería contraria, matando con ellos las mulas de los respectivos tiros, quedando los artilleros que los servían imposibilitados de poderlos mover, con mayor motivo, por encontrarse en un te rreno arado, donde las ruedas de las piezas se hundían a cada paso.
