Multae caussae sunt, Ioannes Nicoti, vir claris simc, propter quas m a omm et illustrium virorum epistolae expetantur. Un,t quas sermonis nitar et elegantia et nativa. Quaedam pulcritudo nullo ut videtur, artificio exculta, nullis pigmentis colorata commendet. Sunt contra, quae et verborum et sen tentiarum minime vulgato genere cultum et artifi oium ostentent. Nonnullae etiam ita scriptae sunt, ut historiam quasi quandam contineant eorum tem pomm, quibus 1i, qui illas scripsere, vixerunt. Atque hac sive a disertis et ingenuamm artium scientia expolitis hominibus prodierint, tanto cupidius legun tur; sive etiam ab iis qui lepore ac festivitate di ccndi camerint, non tamen propterea negliguntur. Historia enim, ait tus 1) quoque modo scripta delectat. Graves quaedam et philosophicae officii praecepta tradunt, falsas Opiniones evellunt ex ani mis quanta in virtute dignitas quanta in vitiis turpitudo sit, docent: quo in genere Seneca excellit.
