As the world?s cities continue growing, urban transport systems and patterns of population mobility are evolving restlessly and rapidly, with particular emphasis being placed upon car ownership and the new freedoms and opportunities it offers. Yet it is becoming clear that this trend is detrimentally affecting our health safety and quality of life, as well as contributing to the global pressures on the world?s resources and atmosphere. Health at the Crossroads: Transport Policy and Urban Health is the fifth of a series of annual public health forums organized by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
