Today's world has increased in complexity to a point where the traditional methods of problem solving based on the cause-and-effect model can no longer cope. This book combines contemporary systems work with operational research, and explores current ideas and methodologies. The emphasis is on developing a methodology for decision making using quantitative approaches, rather than on an elementary survey of a large sequence of management science techniques. With the use of examples, the author explores a OR/MS methodology where the decision problem and decision-maker's objective can be identified, and decision choices are known or can be developed.
