Doppler ultrasound is a technique used in medicine to detect and measure movement and particularly blood flow within the body. The study describes the physical principles upon which this method is based, and the instrumentation and processing necessary to measure and record the flows from within the body. Clinical applications of Doppler ultrasound are surveyed, both to demonstrate the potential of the method and to illustrate many of the technical subjects discussed.
