The subject of power system waveform distortion is discussed here for the first time. In particular, there is a detailed investigation of the static convertor as a harmonic source, and a thorough critical survey of the equipment currently used for harmonic monitoring. There is also some discussion of the setting of harmonic standards and the presentation of harmonic information; computer models of harmonic penetration are given.
