200 years of global industrialization has created unprecedented human wealth, however the system that has created that wealth is based on a one-way flow of materials and energy (from source through consumption to waste) that has pushed the Earth to the brink of environmental crisis. This book provides methods for reversing these trends, in practical, realistic ways. It examines the use of energy, water, land and building design, and presents ways to create regenerative alternatives to consumptive practices.
JOHN TILLMAN LYLE, FASLA, acknowledged as one of the world's foremost authorities on environmental design and regenerative systems, is a professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. His previous books include the groundbreaking Design for Human Ecosystems: Landscape, Land Use, and Natural Resources.
