A brief text which names and describes techniques that are used in all mathematical proofs, "How to Read and Do Proofs" teaches students how and when to use each technique. Useful as a supplement to a maths course, or as a book of general interest to anyone with a background of school maths, the book provides a structure and procedure for students that makes learning easier, and enables them to understand all mathematical proofs, regardless of subject matter, as a sequence of applications of individual proof techniques. The previous edition of this book was published in 1982.
