Reseña del editor

Catalytic Air Pollution Control Commercial Technology Since the introduction of the automobile catalytic converter in 1976, many new catalytic processes have been developed, which are being applied to everything from utilities and chemical plants to home heating and aircraft intake air. Now, get the most complete, up-to-date introduction to these revolutionary technologies available--from one easy-to-understand source. Written by a practicing scientist and an engineer with extensive hands-on experience, Catalytic Air Pollution Control: Commercial Technology is the first book of its kind to present today's uses of catalysis for solving real-world environmental problems, and to provide direction for future research. It gives the beginning as well as seasoned industrial scientist and engineer a "nuts-and-bolts" view of the most important catalytic technologies now in use. Catalyst composition details are included wherever possible. You'll appreciate the book's simple, descriptive language and readability, especially if you have little background in catalysis. First, you get a general introduction to catalytic processes and the general preparation, characterization, kinetics, and deactivation of commercial catalysts. Next, you'll explore current technology as it is being used to control pollution from: Mobile sources, including: emissions from gasoline and diesel exhausts ozone inside high-flying aircraft Stationary sources, including: volatile organic emissions from chemical processing plants and power generation stations nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide from power plants, and rich and lean burn stationary engines The authors also discuss breakthrough processes that may soon have a major impact on catalytic environmental applications. Complete with international examples, this cutting-edge book is essential for all those investigating how to abate harmful emissions for compliance with environmental regulations.
