ELAINE CAMPBELL, PhD, was in charge of training and education for employees at the 63 domestic and overseas sites of a federally funded research and development center. She is now a partner in Campbell Consulting. She teaches technical communications at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she has been a member of the faculty for the past 10 years. She has a doctorate in English literature and a master's in education with a specialization in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
