Among Freud's early discoveries was the fact that certain childhood experiences crucially influenced the subsequent lives of his patents. The impact of childhood traumatic experiences, real or imagined, on the individual (noting that events which are traumatic for some individuals are experienced without ill effect by others) continued to be of interest to Freud for the rest of his life. Others took up the study of the subject and met to discuss their findings. This book presents the results.
