This proceedings examines the critical information security issues facing British Computer Society. Presented are technical, as well as organisational solutions by a distinguished list of international contributors. Particular subjects discussed include Information Technology Security Evaluation Criteria, logical access control mechanisms, security management and awareness, applications and database security, EDI security, PC security and auditing and control aspects. Specific concerns about computer viruses and how to deal with them are reviewed, as well as on a more general basis, how to investigate computer crime.
