As working librarians, we understand that self-guided professional development, such as reading books like these, can be daunting and set aside as lower priority. • The third edition of Making a Collection Count takes on new topics important in collection management, such as expanded sections on inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.
• Many of the works cited have been updated to newer publications. World events such as the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 (and ongoing), as well as new technology-based collections and streaming services available in libraries, have changed the way we approach collection development. Those issues have been explored in this new edition.
