This series supports children's investigations into life processes. They should also understand that living things can be grouped according to observable similiarities and differences and that there are different kinds of animals in the local environment. Focusing on familiar minibeasts means that children can see and research the bugs themselves, so reinforcing learning. Each text covers a particular creature, its type, size, appearance, birth and reproduction, growth, feeding, predators, length of life and movement. There are "bug maps" and simple questions based on the information given.
