Excerpt from Spring Hill Nurseries, Tippecanoe City, Ohio, 1928
The Chinese Flowering Crabs are not as well known as the Flowering Cherries, but a lot of them are decidedly the most gorgeous and brilliant subjects for our gardens. The flowers are produced before the foliage, coming in multitudes and ai most obliterating the branches. The effect is of a tree clothed in transparent silk gauze, shimmering and changing in color value With the elevation of the sun. The effect is beautiful in single trees or clumps, but is wonderful in hedges. They grow in any seil. And these wonderful trees are deserving of a spot on every homeground.
