Soft cover. Condición: Good. Ernest H. Shepard Ilustrador. Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest A.A. Milne Illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard Magnet Books / Methuen Children's Books Ltd, London First Magnet paperback edition 1981 (reprinted 1981) 32 pages. Approx. 19 x 15 cm (small-format paperback). Full-colour illustrations throughout. This is the 1981 UK Magnet paperback edition from the highly collectible "Piglet Picture Paperbacks" / Winnie-the-Pooh storybook series. It contains the complete, self-contained chapter "Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest" (originally Chapter VII of the 1926 classic Winnie-the-Pooh), specially extracted and presented for younger readers. The story features the arrival of Kanga and Baby Roo in the Hundred Acre Wood, Piglet's terrifying journey inside Kanga's pocket, the famous "Aha!" plan devised by Rabbit, Pooh, and Piglet, Roo's first bath, and the introduction of "Henry Pootel" (Piglet's temporary alias). It is a delightful, standalone tale complete with all the original humour, poetry ("Lines Written by a Bear of Very Little Brain"), and gentle wisdom that has charmed generations. Edition specifics: Text by A.A. Milne. Line illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. Colouring of the illustrations © 1970 by Ernest H. Shepard and Methuen & Co. Ltd and © 1973 by Ernest H. Shepard and Methuen Children's Books Ltd. First published in this edition 1975 by Methuen Children's Books Ltd. Magnet paperback edition first published 1981. Reprinted 1981. Printed and bound in Great Britain by Hazell Watson & Viney Ltd, Aylesbury, Bucks. This is the true first Magnet printing (yellow cover with the iconic Shepard bathing scene). Cover: Bright yellow background with the classic full-colour Shepard illustration. Title in bold black lettering. "A.A. MILNE / Illustrated by Ernest Shepard" and small Magnet logo at foot. Minor shelf wear, light creasing to spine and edges, and some surface scuffs consistent with age and library use (see photos). Interior: Clean, bright text pages with all the beloved Shepard colour illustrations intact and vibrant (including the famous bath-time scene, Piglet in Kanga's pocket, the poetry pages, Christopher Robin, Rabbit writing the Plan to Capture Baby Roo, Pooh and friends in the forest, etc.). The book opens with the title page and the charming subtitle: "In which Piglet goes on a Terrifying Journey and Kanga meets Henry Pootel Piglet?". Ends with the full copyright and series list of other Piglet paperbacks (Piglet Meets a Heffalump, Eeyore Has a Birthday, etc.). Condition: Good / reading copy. This is an ex-library copy from Featherby C.P. Infants School (clear blue library stamp on the front endpaper and title page verso - see photos). No other library markings, pockets, or stickers. Pages are lightly toned (typical for 1980s paper) but remain supple and fully readable with no tears, missing pages, or writing. Binding is tight and square. Covers show light rubbing and creasing from decades of enthusiastic young readers, but the book remains complete and charming. No inscriptions, no foxing, no odour. This 1981 Magnet edition is now quite scarce in any condition because it was a low-print-run mass-market children's paperback aimed at schools and libraries. The yellow-cover Piglet series is especially sought after by Pooh collectors and completists who want the individual storybooks rather than the full Winnie-the-Pooh volume. Perfect for: ? Fans of the original Shepard-illustrated Pooh books ? Parents/grandparents reading aloud to young children ? School or nursery libraries ? Winnie-the-Pooh completists wanting the 1981 Magnet set A delightful, affordable piece of Pooh history that captures the gentle magic of the Hundred Acre Wood exactly as Milne and Shepard intended. paperback. Condición: Good. Ernest H. Shepard Ilustrador. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.
