This three volume work provides comprehensive coverage of the multi-disciplinary subject machine vision engineering (MVE). Throughout the work, the author has attempted to achieve a balance between theory and practice and, wherever possible, to integrate the two. All aspects of the machine vision system, from optics to project management, are emphasised. Written from a systems engineering perspective, this is not a compendium of all MVE research, but a single self-consistent exposition on the field. Volume one deals with image acquisition, while image processing and machine vision systems are addressed in volumes two and three respectively. Machine vision is a technology being adopted world-wide in all manufacturing industries.
