Sinopsis
An introduction to the use of materials for architects and engineers, this work provides a guide to the physical construction of buildings from the 1840s to the 1990s. It describes the development of masonry, wood and steel construction up to modern curtain walls and concrete slabs, as well as cast iron and patented floor construction. Sufficient detail is presented to allow the dating of buildings by their structure.

Acerca del autor
Donald Friedman, principal of Friedman Structural Engineering in New York City, was a senior engineer at Robert Silman Associates, where he worked on numerous individual new building, renovation, restoration, and preservation projects, and project engineer at Weiskopf & Pickworth.
