Sinopsis
Since its first publication in 1983 (originally titled Bulimarexia), this volume has been a basic source of information on the dynamics of eating disorders, written by two therapists who have long specialized in treating them. For the new edition, Marlene Boskind-White has added material on brief outpatient therapy--in which the authors pioneered and which is now often the only option under managed care--and the impact of new therapies and new medications such as Prozac. She also includes a chapter on intensive psychotherapy with anorexics. With new material on the dangerous "thin is never thin enough" messages pervading our culture, she discusses the alarming increase in eating disorders and explains why they urgently need new attention as a feminist issue.
