Thomas A. Brady, Jr. , a Missourian, teaches European history at the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of Ruling Class, Regime and Reformation at Strasbourg, 1520-1555 (1978) and Turning Swiss: Cities and Empire, 1450-1500 (1985).
