Sinopsis
This book is a hands-on guide to data analysis using SPSS for Windows, one of the most widely used statistical packages available for the PC. The guide was designed to be used with Version 8.0 of SPSS and beyond, although many of the procedures are also applicable to earlier versions of SPSS. Instructions are provided for using the World Wide Web to obtain the data sets to be analyzed. With this guide, students learn how to conduct reasonably sophisticated statistical analyses using SPSS, which are gaining insight into the nature and purpose of statistical investigation. This self-instructional book is easy to follow since all procedures are outlined in a step-by-step format. The reader is "walked through" numerous examples that illustrate statistical analyses using the SPSS program. Results produced by SPSS are shown and discussed in each application. Statistical topics range from descriptive statistics through multiple regression, including probability theory. Chapter exercises reinforce the text examples and may be performed for further practice, for homework assignments, or in computer laboratory sessions.

This book is a self-teaching guide to the SPSS for Windows computer package. It is designed to be used with SPSS version 8.0 and beyond, although many of the procedures are also applicable to earlier versions of SPSS. This guide is extremely easy to follow since all procedures are outlined in a straightforward, step-by-step format. Because of its self-instructional nature, the beginning student can learn to analyze statistical data with SPSS without outside assistance. The reader is "walked through" numerous examples that illustrate how to use the SPSS package. The results produced by SPSS are shown and discussed in each application. Each chapter demonstrates statistical procedures and provides excuses that reinforce the text examples and can be performed for further practice.
