Excerpt from The Code of Civil Procedure of the State of California, Adopted March 11th, 1872, and Amended in 1883: With Notes and References to the Decisions of the Supreme Court
Tm: present edition of the Code of Civil Procedure is designed to present the complete text of the Code as now in force, together with convenient references to the en tire body of the decisions thereunder. The Code is thus adapted to the extensive changes wrought by the amend ments of 1880, made in conformity with the new Constitu tion of the State. The method of annotation adopted is characterized by the use of index or catch-words appropri ate to a compact manual like this. Condensation is further facilitated by the employment of gradations of type. The citation of cases is confine those in the California Re ports, which are referred to by page and volume only. It is hoped that manifestations of careful and faithful efiort will not seem lacking, and that the practitioner will be enabled to discover at a glance the object of his search.
